You cannot learn good English unless you master the basics of grammar. The first four levels at Tooley’s Classroom study the Side By Side series of textbooks. Mr. Henwood explains the points carefully, using examples and gestures until all students understand. He invites the students to ‘visualise’ the grammar, making it easier to comprehend. Homework is given to the students each week pertaining to what they have studied in class.
基本的な文法を抜きにして英語を習得することはできません。トゥーリーズクラスルームの最初の４つのレベルでは、サイドバイサイドというテキストを使って、ヘンウッド先生が、重要なポイントを丁寧に解説します。例文やジェスチャーを使って、生徒の皆さん全員がしっかりわかるまでです。ヘンウッド先生の『文法を見える形にして教える』という方法で、生徒の皆さんは、苦労せずに文法を理解できるのです。毎週、その日に習ったところの復習として宿題が出されます。

On ‘graduation’ of the 4-book series, the student moves on to a ‘salon’ style discussion class, using the Interchange series. The emphasis in this class is on speaking and discussion, while working through the material in the textbooks. Fortunately, for the students, there is very little homework.
初級を卒業すると、次のステップは、サロン形式のディスカッションクラスです。インターチェンジングシリーズの教科書を使います。このクラスは、話すこと会話することに重点が置かれます。教科書のテーマに沿って仕上げていきます。ラッキーなことに？宿題はあまりありません。

After completing the Interchange textbooks, the students move on to studying Phrasal Verbs. There are ‘thousands’ of phrasal verbs in the English language, and in this textbook, we study how they are formed and how to figure out the meanings. This study is a step up, but a lot of fun, using our imaginations, and reading body language and gestures to visualise the meanings of the words as we hear them spoken in daily conversation.
インターチェインジシリーズが終わったら、句動詞の勉強に移ります。英語には、何千という句動詞が使われているので、この教科書で、句動詞がどのように構成されていて、どのような意味かを理解します。この授業はレベルアップになるものです。日常会話で頻繫に話される句動詞の使い方をボディランゲージやジェスチャーからイメージを可視化して理解できるようになります。
